A mirror-finished display prop inspired by one of the Wizarding World's most iconic magical objects.

The Golden Snitch is one of the most recognisable props from the Harry Potter universe, and I wanted to create a version that looked more like a premium collectible than a simple 3D print.

The project began with 3D printed parts before moving through a careful finishing process using UV resin, high-build primer and extensive surface preparation. To achieve the metallic appearance, the Snitch was painted with a gloss black base, followed by SMS HyperChrome and finished with transparent gold, creating the illusion of polished metal rather than painted plastic.

The wings were heat-formed to give them a more natural flowing shape, while the display stand received a rich timber finish to complement the bright gold body.

This build also marked my first experience using SMS HyperChrome, a product that produced an incredibly reflective finish and has since become one of my favourite chrome paints for display-quality props.
